How can I lose weight when I have hypothyroidism?

I am a youngish person, and I am tired of weighing 200 pounds. I just reached that weight yesterday, and it is depressing. I wanted to know what kinds of exercise should I do that would be most effective, and what kind of diet plan would be best. None of the pills for hypothyroidism will work fo rme, so please do not suggest those. Thanks, and any help is greatly appriciated!

Is it normal to develop high blood pressure from thyroid problems?

2-3 months ago my mom had a partial thyroidectomy done and now she has extremely high blood pressure, today the doctor put her on high blood pressure meds and did blood tests to see what kind of supplements to put her on, is this normal to develop high blood pressure from the thyroid not functioning right?

Thyroid gland and depression?

Do you have any expiriences?

I’m being treated for depression (zoloft) and I was told to examine my thyroid gland since it’s function has some effects on our mental state, i.e. can cause depression, or cause fast paced heart rate (which is common in panick atacks I guess..)…

Tomorrow I’m going to take the tests, and discuss them with my therapist probably the next week. So I’d like some feedback… I know those two are connected since thyroid is a gland and it’s hormons effect us in many ways, but I’d like to know some more specific information. What were your symptoms before you took the tests, what did you do if your tests for thyroid disfunction were positive, did the therapy improve your state etc…

how do you know if you have a over active thyroid? What symptoms should i look for?

What Can Help Prevent Thyroid Diseases/Illnesses And Keep The Thyroid In Good Health?

My mom suffers from a thyroid condition and there is a good chance it could be hereditary. Because of her thyroid condition, my mom gained nearly a hundred pounds, as well as various other side effects, before her doctors could figure out why and stabilize her, and her doctors believe that it might be genetic. Because she was adopted and her records sealed, we have no way to prove one way or the other.

So, at 18, I’m wondering what I and my younger sister and brother can to to keep our thyroids in good health and prevent or lower the risk of illness/disease.
I believe my mother has hypothyroidism.

My dog has low thyroid and I was just wondering what he felt. The vet was amazed at the results of several blood tests, because he didn’t exhibit the typical signs of lethargy and obesity.

Social anxiety? depression? thyroid problem??? ?

Heres a little bit of my history…
I grew up a happy child .. my environment was a little stressful with my parents fighting and arguing all the time… I remember thinking I wish they would just get a divorce. Besides that I had alot of friends and alot of fun with them.. I was kind of a class clown, very social..
Lets see… It all started at the end of middle school I started getting stressed at home alot from my parents so I would go out with my friends to smoke weed and get away from the stress. One day I tried smoking meth, for a total of 2 times that weekend. Up until then smoking weed had been fun and relaxing… but over time I started to become withdrawn from school and I would always ditch to go get high with friends.. I had still made some new friends but I wasnt as open around people. I started just going through the motions of school.. well things started to get worse.. after becoming withdrawn from strangers. I remember showing up to class high and hearing people talking about me. I became paranoid and stopped going to school, ..instead covinving a close group of friends to ditch with me and get high everyday. well eventually when i got high around them i would hear them talk trash about me too.(I now realize i was hallucinating.) I got kicked out of my house and moved to my sisters for a couple years. There i made no friends felt terrible anxiety around strangers and got very depressed. Eventually I stopped smoking for a while thinking that the weed was making me delusional. Things got somewhat better. I no longer had delusions. But was still very anxious and depressed. Well I returned to my home town 2 years later. I had promised when i left I would smoke with my told buddies upon my return. So I did, and my hallucinations were much worse this time.. It got to the point where i was hearing voices seeing things and getting messages from the tv.. full blown schizophrenia symptoms. I got checked into the mental clinic a few times. So… I stopped smoking weed after a few relapses and eventually stopped getting treated for schizophrenia and was treated for anxiety and depression.. medications .. therapy. st johns wort and many other natural remedies. Nothing worked. Now im in the military about 4 years from the initial onset. Tried more things… diet exercise more presciptions, meditation.Still anxious, although ive been working on it.. I can fake a little bit of confidence when trying to give a class. Single (surprized?) and still depressed.No real friends ..they all ditched me once they found out i was nuts. So I dont have much of a life at all. I’ve been wondering all this time What it could be. depression causing anxiety? Social anxiety that causes depression? Thyroid problem? Was it the drugs? The stress? here are my symptoms..

depressed most of the time, socially anxious, racing thoughts ..lazy-tired all of the time. sleep all day. When I become anxious i get the racing heart, sweaty palms, trouble breathing correctly, tremble, racing thoughts, difficulty concentrating, poor short term momory (but very good long term for some reason)..
so thats that… Any one have any insight for me? Anything related to my story maybe?

Man… I dont wanna have to put myself down like a sick dog. lol

I have thyroid problems and my hair is thinning like crazy?

What would be a good product for thinning and falling hair, each time i wash my hair its falls, i have dry hair and i do not know what product to use, i am 44 four and the doctor told me is due to my thyroid problem. i hear about so much products but i do not know what to choose any body out there with my problem? and is always itching even when i wash it and i use oil and conditioners in my hair.

When is it time to surgically remove the thyroid gland due to multinodular thyroid disease?

I have had multinodular thyroid disease for many years. My thyroid gland works perfectly, but I have been monitored by various endocrinologists for years. I take Synthroid to get the nodules in check. However, in January, my tests (an ultrasound and a nuclear medicine scan) showed I now had 6 large fluid filled cold nodules. The Dr assured me they are benign. My Dr. increased my thyroid dosage for 6 months to see if there would be any improvement. I just had another ultrasound prior to my doctor’s appt next week & now I have 30-40 nodules. I have some difficulty swallowing, especially at night if I lay on my back, and my neck sometimes hurts. I am I know that the medical people are reluctant to remove a thyroid gland that works, but I am beginning to feel that maybe it is time for the surgery. I am 54 and in good health otherwise. Has anyone else had this situation? Do you think I should discuss this with the endocrinologist and maybe get a 2nd opinion?

What have been your symptoms of hypo-thyroid?

And, did the docs treat it? If you were borderline, did they not do anything?

I have been tested as hypo-thyroid a zillion times in the past few years, and I’m convinced I now have it for certain. I am tired, cold, gaining weight like crazy, dry skin, you name it, I probably am dealing with it.

Help. I feel lousy.

Can taking too much thyroid meds. be bad for your health?

I had a recent tsh test done & it came back that i was on too much syntroid . But I was told to stay on that dose, I feel tired alot, is this the cause?

Do you think I should get checked for thyroid problems?

Well over the course of a year I`ve had 3 fainting spells, tunnel vision, and I feel light headed all the time and it feels like it`s just getting worse. My grandfather has an over-active thyroid so do you think I should get tested for it?

Anyone with thyroid disfunction and depression?

I’ve tested my thyroid gland hormones and done a histological examination (where your tryroid is punctured for a tissue example) ’cause my therapist told me to do it (I’m being treated for depression). Anyone else with the same expirience? Can you tell me what were your examination results like? Like what supstances were high or low etc…? I’ve got the results, but I’m going to see my doc in a week or so, so I’d like a bit info a bit sooner.

I have borderline thyroid issues, according to the doctor. He said I dont have to take meds since it is borderline, but Im having a hard time losing weight because of it. What can I do naturally to help with this? (thyroid, metabilism issues)

Raw Glandular Concentrate pills/supplement for Thyroid Support?

I am hypothyroid and have a hell of a time with my levothyroxine. One day it works, and literally the next day it doesnt. I am up and down, up and down.

Has anyone taken glandular supplements (made from animal thyroid, ground up, in a capsule) to help their thyroid? How has it worked for you? What dose is good for you?

I have almost every thyroid symptoms..but why does report shows negative?

Went to a doctor…he took my blood and sent to pathlab…thing shows I dont have thyroid…but i have most of the symptoms of thyroid..

I have:
Fatigue-Weakness ( I have very low stamina)
Heat Intolerance ( Even at night…while not moving like lying down…if there’s no fan I sweat even the weather it is not hot)
A little bit of Depression
Constipation (mine is infrequent)
Nervousness and Tremors (I hate this)
