Anyone taking Thyroid Energy pills from NOW Health Products?
I’ve been getting a headache sincde Tuesday when I started taking the thyroid supplements. Can anyone comment on why? There’s really nothing in there to hurt me, at least I don’t think?

I’d stop the thyroid supplements. What they will do is speed up the thyroid and that’s probably why you have a headache. In the long-run, use of these supplements may cause your thyroid gland to slow down over time causing you to become hypothyroid. Many people who took diet pills years ago, later developed an under-active thyroid.
If you have a thyroid problem go on thyroid meds, not supplements. If you don’t want synthetic meds, there are natural ones too.

Taking any sort of "thyroid supplement" without speaking to your doctor is ill-advised.
If you have normal thyroid function and you take additional thyroid hormones, the body decreases thyroid hormone production so that the levels of thyroid hormone in the body remains unchanged.
The danger associated with taking thyroid hormones when you don’t need them, is that prolonged suppression of the thyroid gland may cause it to shrink and stop functioning altogether. To make such a "switched off" thyroid gland start working again may take quite a while.
In addition, people who take thyroid supplements often develop all the unpleasant symptoms of an overactive gland, such as:
* Nervousness
* Heat intolerance
* Palpitations
* Increased appetite
My advice is to stop taking these immediately, and see your doctor before resuming.
If you suspect that you have an under active thyroid, do yourself a favor and consult your doctor first. Have thyroid function tests done and let the doctor decide if you have an overactive or under active or normal thyroid gland. If your doctor prescribes thyroid hormone to assist an under active thyroid gland, well and good.
