I don't think so. I've been on it for almost a year. Had to go one time about 10 without since funds were low and I really couldn't tell a difference.

I think the mind is a very, very powerful thing and since it's all you seem to be thinking about and in a very negative fashion, i.e. "I'm not taking it so I must be getting depressed and need something to blame my overeating on........"
The 3 day weekend is about over, you'll be back on tomorrow. You are fine, keep telling yourself that because it is true. If you still feel depressed after going back on your meds, I think you should see a doctor since you can't blame depression on an under active thyroid all the time!!

And could the fact that you're overeating be blamed on it being a holiday weekend?

Yes and Yes.

I've been off it for about a week because I can't afford the go to the doctor yet to get a new script.

the depression started the second day, not deep but a slow, draggy feeling. Now I'm crying jags, and shouting at everyone. Oddly, I've lost my appetite for once.

Once before I was off synthroid for four days and I noticed the depression and binge eating starting in. And yes, it went away in a few days once I was back on it.

So the lesson is: Both of need our meds on a regular basis.

Possible if your dose was very large.

Your medication has a 1/2 life of about a 6-7 days. Meaning if you missed 6-7 days, it would be the equivalent of being on 1/2 the dose long term.

If this is the cause it may take a few days to feel right again.

I needed to go off medication for a while, my symptoms were different, muscle aches, tired, and forgetful.

Yes, hypothyroidism is definitely associated with increased depression and appetite.

Every person reacts differently to starting and stopping medication, depending on their body's metabolism and the size of their dose. What doesn't bother one person at all may cause another person quite a lot of discomfort and difficulty.

Once you start taking the Synthroid again, the depression and hunger will abate.
