can hypothyroidism cause a false negative on an hpt?
I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend the 2nd. On the night of the 16th ihad very light spotting. Could have been implanation. I took a hpt 2 days ago and this am-both false. I’m irregular but usually start by the 20th.. I’ve had nausea, funny taste in my mouth and light cramping. I also have hypothyroidism, which I take synthroid for, so I don’t kno if it would cause be to have a false negative or did I test too early? Any advice will help. THANKS!

No you won’t get a false positive.
one of two things is likely to have happened. You tested too early.
or you had a very light period.
this happened to me frequently when I was TTC fro 2 1/2 years. It is frustrating to hear just wait, but that really is all you can do.
I can suggest that you talk to your doctor about your thyroid levels and if your periods are still very irregular they can help you ovulate with a drug called clomid. It is safe but not always effective. I used it for 8 months and it didn’t work for me, but others got pregnant right away.
