My thyroid test was negative, what else could cause my symptoms?
I went to the doctor to get my thyroid checked as I have many symtoms that lead that way. I am tired all the time, sluggish in the afternoon, sufficient hair loss, weight gain, and I am cold all the time. Could there be a possibility that the test was wrong?
Sounds like it could be caused by a nutritional / digestive malfunction. Certain foods can cause thyroid-like symptoms – after enough years, it could even cause thyroid damage that just hasn’t shown up yet.
Absolutely. Demand they also test T3 and T4′s. I bet your T4s are off. Go to a specialist as regular doctors can get confused on the reverse diagnostics that play into the thyroid. Read about ghrelin and learn how it is killing people’s thyroid.
There are actually several things that can cause these kinds of signs and symptoms. Since you didn’t give an age, I’m not going presume anything. But I can give you a few you can either research or think about.
1. Hormone Change either due to Menopause or just hormonal fluctuation.
2. Stress- Stress does all kinds of funny things to our bodies from making us gain weight to irregular periods. So, if you don’t think your under any kind of serious stress you may want to think about what has happened since your started noticing these particular Signs and Symptoms (S/S)
3. Depression- Like stress can throw our bodies completely out of wack, most people don’t even realize they are drepressed until they start talking with their doctors. There are medications to treat this.
4. PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrom)- I would suggest you research this one depending on your age. The S/S that you listed off resymbol PCOS. You can google PCOS and take the on-line testing to see if you fall into that catagory. You may want to talk with your OB/GYN.
5. Lack of Sleep-if your not sleeping well or get up feeling like you have not rested, you may want a sleep study done.
6. Lack of vitamins, if your not currently taking any you may want to try. If regular adult vitamins upset your stomach try childrens (it’s the only ones I can tolerate)
7. Lack of excersie this actually goes back to stress- try taking a brisk 15-30min walk. If you work when you take your afternoon break get outside and walk around if possible.
As you can see your S/S has already given off 7 POSSIBLE issues. Start by consulting your doctor before making any serious changes, but some you can safely start changing yourself.
