I have to go and get an ultrasound, I really don’t know what that will tell me but I have a soreness on the side of my neck (not really a lump) As you can tell I hate going to Doctors. Anyone know what I’m talking about?
they seem to be fairly easily dismissed by doctors, but they keep piling on (symptoms). Has anyone had trouble finding a doctor to treat their thyroid problem? I know thyroid disease can sometimes be hard to diagnose, just wondering if anyone out there has had a similar and frustrating experience. Also, does anyone know if a high ANA titre is linked to thyrioid disease?
I am 34 and was wondering what some of the symptoms of hypothyroidism are. My family has a history of slow thyroid and I was wondering if I should get tested? I heard there are several different blood tests to get, but many doctors only call for 1 or 2 and it is not a complete assessment if you don’t do all of them. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.
If doctors have found all 3 types of disporders linking together why not just look at it as thyroid disorder, plenty of articles so far ive read today lead directly to bad diagnoses of patients with thyroid problems, if loss of energy and depression are only treated for depression shouldnt docs be more focused these days to make damn sure its not a thyroid disorder. For the past couple of years myself ive been having the exact symptons, the response from the doctors has so far been are you training, i say no so that is the problem straight away, forget the blood test patient, just get out there, so what if you pretty much are to tired and depressed to do training why dont they go heck lets check for thyroid, and my mom has diabetes she has all the signs of thyroid mulfunction so now shes been on diabetes meds, but thyroid is directly linked to how your body produces insulen or not enough of it aswell as loss of energy and therefore not enough sleep lack of concentration. What is wrong with these docs ill be pissed if my moms diabetes was wrongly diagnosed especially if its a problem with her thyroid, plus meds for diabetes are expensive maybe its about helping the parmaceutical companies to profit more but thats just sick.
Whats your point of view on this.
I have all the symptoms of hypothyroidism including extreme cold intolerance, but my blood tests are normal. Doctors have refused to prescribe thyroid medicines for me.
I have two friends who take synthroid for hypothyroidism even though they don’t have any symptoms at all.
Can you have hypothyroidism even if your blood tests are normal?
My mom suffers from a thyroid condition and there is a good chance it could be hereditary. Because of her thyroid condition, my mom gained nearly a hundred pounds, as well as various other side effects, before her doctors could figure out why and stabilize her, and her doctors believe that it might be genetic. Because she was adopted and her records sealed, we have no way to prove one way or the other.
So, at 18, I’m wondering what I and my younger sister and brother can to to keep our thyroids in good health and prevent or lower the risk of illness/disease.
I believe my mother has hypothyroidism.
I have all the clinically llisted symptoms of having a thyroid problem:weight problem, excessive thirst, dry/brittle hair and nails.,cold hands/feet constantly and tired all the time. my hair is falling out in the handfulls..low blood pressure.. oh heck I can go on and on..does anyone know what else may mimic thyriod symptoms?..because my doctors are no help..
have been checked for diabetes and am neg..i have been to numerous doctors but i can not seem to find one that really takes me serious and/or are willing to take that extra step.
My doctor recommends that I have my thyroid gland removed because of a benign but large cold nodule. I am physically very active and I am worried that the replacement thyroxine will make me tired and that it may have other side effects too. Anyone out there who has undergone through thyroid surgery before?
I would like doctors opinion but mostly patients sharing their personal experience.
I was wondering if someone could give me sights to explain what hypothyroidism is.? The doctor said I was perfectly healthy other than that. I know weight loss is an issue, but can it cause infertility or the inability to concieve right away? I really love my doctor but he did not explain what it was. I am 10 weeks and 4 days pregnant and wanted to know if it could cause any complications in pregnancy. I know this is alot to ask but I wanted to know whether other than tyroid medication whether there was anything in my diet I needed to change. Any help would be appreciated. I only would like advice. I know that you are not doctors but any helpful sites or input would be useful.
Thank you in advance.
I went to the doctors this week for bronchitis. He mentioned that I had an enlarged thyroid gland. What does this mean? What causes this? How can it affect me? I have an appointment for a physical at the end of the month. I will ask my doctors these questions as well. I just wanted to see what others had to say about this.
I know what hypothyroidism is, but what causes more women to have hypothyroidism than men? If a male has hypothyroidism what would be some causes to that? In general, what are some underlying causes of hypothyroidism? My dad told me he went to the doctors and has hypothyroidism and has to go back to find out the causes. I don’t know if their is a family history of hypothyroidism or other auto-immune diseases.
I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about a year and a half ago. I have since been trying to find a stable dose of synthyroid with my endocrinologist. He believes that the 100 mg dose I am on now may be suffienct. I only have to see him twice a year now, instead of blood work every 6 weeks and an office visit every three months. I still don’t feel like my old self. I will admit that I feel about 80% better than I did, but the feelings of anxiety and depression are still lingering, worse sometimes than others. I am looking for your experineces with the illness, how you coped with it all, and how long after you were stable on your medication that you felt like your old self again. I have thought this whole time that something more serious is wrong with me, only my doctors can’t find out what it is. Did any of you feel this way? Thanks for the help.
Hello, I have not had mine checked yet, but one of my doctors (for anxiety) told me to because I have anxiety and night sweats. I am in the process of finding a doctor to do blood work for me to get it checked. In the meantime though, can you tell me what other signs or symptoms are associated with thyroid?
Thanks
P.S.. I am 27 year old female, if that makes a difference.
