Ok.
When I was first diagnoised with thyroid problems, I was diagnoised with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis (hypothryoidism).
I have symptoms of it: dry skin, brittle nails, I’m constantly tired, I have memory problems, a large goiter, and I’ve always had weight problems.
However- I also have symptoms of hyperthyroidism.
Symptoms I have: I’m nervous, my hands shake, I sweat a lot, I’ve got a 50% chance of running to the bathroom after eating, my hair isn’t exactly what I would call fine, but it is soft, and it falls out.
So is it normal to have symptoms of both? Thank you.

I went to the doctor and told her that my neck sometimes got a bit swollen. She checked it out and at first glance she said I might have a thyroid problem and possibly a goiter. I took the blood test and everything came back normal. I was wondering what were some of the symptoms of someone who has had it. Could it be that there is something wrong but not noticable yet? Some of the things that I have been experiencing is persistant nausea, breathing problem which is not caused by asthma, and some more than usual hair loss. Is this something that could be related? Any information would help. Thanks.

I am a 23 year old female, I have quite a large goiter (enlarged thyroid gland) and I am worried that it may be cancerous. Please help if you can, any information would be truly useful and most appreciated.

I have had thyroid symptoms for a long time, with always normal labs. Doesn’t make sense. Past couple years ultrasound every 6 mos. for thyroid swelling. Multi nodular goiter. Last week u/s showed one nodule getting larger. Have to have fine needle biopsy. I am so scared, right here at Christmas to have to go through this. Have feeling of choking, tightness in throat, lots of congestion in throat, hoarseness at times, fatigue, nervousness, palpitations etc. NORMAL LABS..Anyone have any suggestions? Mother had thyroid removed 80 yrs ago lots of thyroid disease in family. No thyroid cancer, though. I’m scared anyone have this problem????I do have cervical disc ruptures that I’m suppose to have surgery for, could that be causing any of my symptoms???Thanks so much for anyone who can help!!!

I’d swear I have hypothyroidism, but my labs always come back normal range. Should I see and endocrinologist anyway? Or would that be a waste of time/money?
My mother had a goiter and had to take thyroid medicine so it’s in my family history.

I had my thyroid removed in January after being diagnosed wtih multi-nodular goiter. A biopsy showed pre-cancerous cells and I also have Cownden syndrome. I still have pressure in my throat with some sharp pain at times. My throat is also swollen. Is this still a result of the surgery or should I make a follow-up appointment?

For about two years now I have been seeing a doctor to keep an eye on a nodular thyroid goiter. I am six foot one, age 20, and female. The doctor has found nothing seriously wrong, but has advised me to lose a bit of weight and improve my overall wellness to help my thyroid continue its good, albeit swollen, health. Does anyone have a tip on good food or an exercise program that improved their thyroid function? Thank you so much for your answers. I am looking for a natural solution here, so please try not to recommend pills of any type, etc. I do see the doctor on a regular basis to make sure that there is not a need for any serious treatment.

I suffered two anaphylactic shocks in the past 13 months due to consumption of foods that contained iodine. I don’t want to develop a large neck (due to goiter or hypothyroidism), so how can I stay healthy with an iodine allergy?

I have a family history of thyroid disorders. My mom had thyroid cancer and my father had hyperthyroid. I had a goiter 3 years ago. It was drained and turned to be benign. My recent blood work indicated that my thyroid is functioning normally. However, I have been feeling a bit sluggish and have put on over 10 pounds in the last 5 months without changing my eating habits at all.
Any advice is appreciated!

I can feel like a swollen gland in my throat, right where my thyroid is. i’m going to the doctor friday for something else and i’ll ask him but i was wondering if you all had any info. my neck isn’t swollen from the outside, my thyroid, by touch, feels the same on both sides (not particulary swollen like a goiter) and the feeling is on the right side. i can feel it when i swallow sometimes or when my head is bent down. just a small pressure, no pain. the thing is, i’ve felt this before, a few weeks ago but it went away. i’m wondering if it isn’t allergies or a cold virus but after looking at gland anatomy charts, it seems my thyroid is the only gland right there. maybe its a nodule? but wouldn’t i feel it all the time and not just on and off if it was a nodule?
so weird… let me know if anyone has any info on this
=)
