I SWEAR that I have a thyroid problem. My Ob/Gyn did a blood test and referred me to my doctor. She said that the # was abnormal. Everytime that my doctor checks it he says that it is normal. Last time it was 3.5. Is that normal? I have the following symptoms:
Cold hands and feet
A tendency to feel the cold
Depression
Tiredness especially in the morning
Headache
Constipation
Swollen eyelids especially in the morning
Loss of hair
Dry skin
The dry skin is particularly bothersome and I hate the hair loss. I am ALWAYS tired and seem to gain weight no matter what I do. How do I make my doctor listen to me? Should I see an endocrinologist even though my doc thinks that there is no problem? He has no explanation for my symptoms and tells me simply that my thyroid was normal at 3.5.

I went to the doctor and told her that my neck sometimes got a bit swollen. She checked it out and at first glance she said I might have a thyroid problem and possibly a goiter. I took the blood test and everything came back normal. I was wondering what were some of the symptoms of someone who has had it. Could it be that there is something wrong but not noticable yet? Some of the things that I have been experiencing is persistant nausea, breathing problem which is not caused by asthma, and some more than usual hair loss. Is this something that could be related? Any information would help. Thanks.

My symptoms: tired all the time,
get cold very easily,
memory problems,
hair loss,
can’t lose weight,
depression.
I was sure this was hypothyroid but the tests came back all fine. I’m trying to find an answer because I just don’t feel healthy anymore. I looked up Wilson’s syndrome, but it seems many doctor’s don’t believe in Wilson’s. Does anyone have any idea of what I can do to feel better? I do not take any supplements at this time, and eat a fairly well balanced diet, mostly organic vegetables, etc. I’d appreciate any ideas for supplements or nutrition changes or anything that will help. Thanks!

I went to the doctor to get my thyroid checked as I have many symtoms that lead that way. I am tired all the time, sluggish in the afternoon, sufficient hair loss, weight gain, and I am cold all the time. Could there be a possibility that the test was wrong?

I have been experiencing hair loss, excessive sweating, severe depression, severe intolerance of hot climates/surroundings, frequent nausea, and stomach pains since I was seventeen. The year before, I starved myself for a month in order to lose some weight. I have a very prevelent family history of thyroid disorder. I think, perhaps I triggered this with the shock to my metabolism that my anorexia caused. I have been eating regularly since I was 19, but the symptoms persist. What should I do? I am tired of being uncomfortable all of the time, and having thinning hair in parts because of my body’s problem…I’m only 19! My libido is one eighth of what it used to be, and my cognitive abilities aren’t what they once were…I did a bit of research and saw that all of my symptoms lined up with hypothyroidism, and I wish to know where to look or what to eat, or what I can do to change my body back…

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism when I was 17. My thyroid function is "normal" or at least that’s what the doctor says. I’ve been taking levothyroxine for as long as I’ve been diagnosed. I’m 22 now and even thought I’m taking the medication, I’m still having symptoms: Hair loss, Intolerance to cold and of course, weight loss. Does anyone have any suggestions about how I can lose weight with Hypothyroidism?
