I just found out I have hypothyroidism and was prescribed Levothyroxine for this, and was wondering if it will give me energy, and if I will lose weight from fixing this? Also, i have high cholestoral and was prescribed Lipitor for this,? Would any of these problems be a symptom of something else?
I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism and was prescribed levothyroxine. I try to stay away from drugs, especially the synthetic drugs and I really do not want to take a synthetic hormone. I was wondering if there were natural alternatives to taking levothyroxine. I have researched this but was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions. Thanks.
Im currently on synthroid but some people are saying that it doesn’t really work and natural (armour) is the way to go. Why is nobody talking about this? Which one really works? Armour thyroid (T3) or Synthroid / Levothyroxine (T4)? Pros and Cons of either?
I’m so sick of this crap. Just want to get better already..
endocrinologist
I am hypothyroid and have a hell of a time with my levothyroxine. One day it works, and literally the next day it doesnt. I am up and down, up and down.
Has anyone taken glandular supplements (made from animal thyroid, ground up, in a capsule) to help their thyroid? How has it worked for you? What dose is good for you?
I appreciate any help! ![]()
I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism a month ago and was put on Levothyroxine. I am still feeling run down and tired and my muscles and joints in my legs hurt so bad I can barely walk sometimes. Do I need to talk to my endocrinologist and get a different medication or do I need to give it a little longer? Is it normal to hurt so bad?
I had a full blood work up, the only other thing that it shoed was anemia. My TSH was 246.42.
I’ve heard of it affecting the heart, kidneys, eyes, etc. but never thought about this question until I started seeing people on here being diabetic and having some kind of thyroid problem. I have an under active thyroid and have to take Levothyroxine every day for it. AND am diabetic also.
I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism when I was 17. My thyroid function is "normal" or at least that’s what the doctor says. I’ve been taking levothyroxine for as long as I’ve been diagnosed. I’m 22 now and even thought I’m taking the medication, I’m still having symptoms: Hair loss, Intolerance to cold and of course, weight loss. Does anyone have any suggestions about how I can lose weight with Hypothyroidism?
