I am 18 and just got diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. I know it’s not a HUGE deal, but I am on Synthroid for it and on 40 mg of Adderall for ADD… but my adderall doesn’t work anymore since I’ve had hypothyroidism! I used to just take 20mg and I would work like crazy and I couldn’t go to sleep for days on it, but I tried taking 60mg and I was still tired, sluggish, and unfocused! Does anyone know why? Or if it is safe to even mix these drugs?! I am also on Zoloft for anxiety. Please help!
My doctor KNOWS all the meds I am on. Im not retarded. Im just asking if anyone else has had this happen with Adderall.

so i thought that there might be some thing wrong with my thyroid
so i went to the doctor and he did some tests.
the office called me back about one week later and now wants to see me.
that means that they found some thing right?
and if i do have to take meds what are the side effects or restriction.to being on these pills.

I am 77 years old,I had my thyroid gland totally removed.I was never put on any meds.I recently had tia’s and the doctor now says that I should take Synthroid.I have never had any symptoms of hypo or hyper.I can not afford to go get blood tests and scans
every 3 mos.

If doctors have found all 3 types of disporders linking together why not just look at it as thyroid disorder, plenty of articles so far ive read today lead directly to bad diagnoses of patients with thyroid problems, if loss of energy and depression are only treated for depression shouldnt docs be more focused these days to make damn sure its not a thyroid disorder. For the past couple of years myself ive been having the exact symptons, the response from the doctors has so far been are you training, i say no so that is the problem straight away, forget the blood test patient, just get out there, so what if you pretty much are to tired and depressed to do training why dont they go heck lets check for thyroid, and my mom has diabetes she has all the signs of thyroid mulfunction so now shes been on diabetes meds, but thyroid is directly linked to how your body produces insulen or not enough of it aswell as loss of energy and therefore not enough sleep lack of concentration. What is wrong with these docs ill be pissed if my moms diabetes was wrongly diagnosed especially if its a problem with her thyroid, plus meds for diabetes are expensive maybe its about helping the parmaceutical companies to profit more but thats just sick.

Whats your point of view on this.

I found out I have hypothyroid 8 years ago, and was wondering if this would cause some problems with me getting pregnant. I have never been on birth control and me and my husband don’t use protection any more. I am only twenty years old, and I have my period every month.
I used to go see an endocrinologist when I lived with my parents in Arizona, but since getting married I haven’t been able to. I also stopped taking my meds a few months ago, I probably should start taking them again. There is also alot of diabetes in my family, both of my grandparents, two of my uncles , my aunt and my dad have it so I am on the look out for that as well…

I’m a 20 year old female, and i have hypothyroidism treated by meds that i take every morning at 5am. Thinking about joining the Marines, afraid I won’t be able to make it through bootcamp.

Also, which would be more hypothyroidism-acceptable? Marines or Army?

I am 2 months pregnant with baby #1 and recently found out that I have hypothyroidism. My doc says it’s okay to take the meds she prescribed w little affect on the baby…but this is the same hospital that told my Grandpa he had bronchitis for a month-he died 2 months later of lung cancer. Is my doc right?

I’m on Hypo-thyroid meds and am wondering if a diet pill would be safe.

My friend & I both started weight watchers, but she is worried because of her thyroid problem (she is currenlty on meds for it), that she will not be able to lose weight, even on this program. Has anyone here had a thyroid problem & still lost weight on this plan?

I have had trouble losing weight forever. I finally went to the doctor to see if there was something wrong with me. It turns out, i have hypothyroidism. I just started the medication today. Will it help me lose weight? or what exactly do the meds do? I don’t really know anything about hypothyroidism except that my thyroid isn’t producing enough hormones to keep my metabolism working at a steady rate. any information about hypothyroidism would be great!

My doc said that my TSH level is low, so I need to get more comprehensive test for thyroid disease. Will I always need to take meds?

If my tests come back negative, what can I do to make sure I don’t get it?

My shrink mentioned trying thyroid meds for my chronic depression; I am already on cymbalta. What about armour thyroid meds? I guess what I’m asking is, if my thyroid levels are normal, and I take a thyroid med, will this be safe to treat depression?

I had the Flu last Novemember and have had chronic fatigue since. I have had two blood tests that point to Hypothyrodism. I haven’t started on meds for it yet because I have also developed serious allergies/allergy-related asthma and I am trying to get that under control first (also started after the flu and thought the chest pain was fatigue related and only after 9mos of complaining, my doctor finally got a clue). I have not had any weight gain so far but I’ve been told that it happens if the problems with the thyroid go undiagnoised long enough. My only concern about this is because a few of the women in my family have been over weight and it has been such a struggle for them for so many years. I am already struggling with debiltating fatigue and allergies I’m not sure I want to add trying to loose weight to the mix either. What has your experience with hypothyroidism and wieght gain/trying to loose the weight been? Any advice?

I am taking meds for depression (Bipolar too) and Underactive thyroid how can I lose weight? Will Wii fit work?
