One that is regarded as safe and effective as Synthroid?
I have a thyroid problem in which the doctor told me that my thyroid wasnt functioning at all. I am only 20 years old and I feel weak all the time. They put me on synthroid and said that it should stabalize it or something to actually make it function properly. They said my thyroid should be a .4 and mine was a 30. I had blood work done a week ago and they said that the medicine had actually not worked and they want me to double the dosage. Someone told me that I should be on a different kind of medicine for it because it isnt functioning at all. I am kinda dumb when it comes to this subject, I know nothing about it or what can happen to me. If anyone has any information about this please let me know.

I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend the 2nd. On the night of the 16th ihad very light spotting. Could have been implanation. I took a hpt 2 days ago and this am-both false. I’m irregular but usually start by the 20th.. I’ve had nausea, funny taste in my mouth and light cramping. I am 18 and just got diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. I know it’s not a HUGE deal, but I am on Synthroid for it and on 40 mg of Adderall for ADD… but my adderall doesn’t work anymore since I’ve had hypothyroidism! I used to just take 20mg and I would work like crazy and I couldn’t go to sleep for days on it, but I tried taking 60mg and I was still tired, sluggish, and unfocused! Does anyone know why? Or if it is safe to even mix these drugs?! I am also on Zoloft for anxiety. Please help!
My doctor KNOWS all the meds I am on. Im not retarded. Im just asking if anyone else has had this happen with Adderall.
I have an inactive Thyroid, taking synthroid and it helps very little. I feel so tierd all the time and have no desire to do the things I know I need to do. Nothing seems to matter to me anylonger except my 2 grandsons, 6yrs and 2yrs. I am 58 and shouldn’t feel this bad all the time. I ache all over. And this is a daily thing. Is there anything I can do for this, I am loosing special moments with my grandchildren. And it is causing other problems, I can’t remember things. I have always handled all business and household business myself, and I can’t seem to do any of it anylonger. This is causing searious problems for me and my family. Appreciate any advise from someone who has been where I am now. Thanks so much.
I am 77 years old,I had my thyroid gland totally removed.I was never put on any meds.I recently had tia’s and the doctor now says that I should take Synthroid.I have never had any symptoms of hypo or hyper.I can not afford to go get blood tests and scans
every 3 mos.
I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism when I was 12. I took synthroid up until I was 20. A few months after the medicine was out of my system I had my doctor test my throid level and it cam beack normal. Does this happen often?
I have all the symptoms of hypothyroidism including extreme cold intolerance, but my blood tests are normal. Doctors have refused to prescribe thyroid medicines for me.
I have two friends who take synthroid for hypothyroidism even though they don’t have any symptoms at all.
Can you have hypothyroidism even if your blood tests are normal?
Im currently on synthroid but some people are saying that it doesn’t really work and natural (armour) is the way to go. Why is nobody talking about this? Which one really works? Armour thyroid (T3) or Synthroid / Levothyroxine (T4)? Pros and Cons of either?
I’m so sick of this crap. Just want to get better already..
endocrinologist
I have had multinodular thyroid disease for many years. My thyroid gland works perfectly, but I have been monitored by various endocrinologists for years. I take Synthroid to get the nodules in check. However, in January, my tests (an ultrasound and a nuclear medicine scan) showed I now had 6 large fluid filled cold nodules. The Dr assured me they are benign. My Dr. increased my thyroid dosage for 6 months to see if there would be any improvement. I just had another ultrasound prior to my doctor’s appt next week & now I have 30-40 nodules. I have some difficulty swallowing, especially at night if I lay on my back, and my neck sometimes hurts. I am I know that the medical people are reluctant to remove a thyroid gland that works, but I am beginning to feel that maybe it is time for the surgery. I am 54 and in good health otherwise. Has anyone else had this situation? Do you think I should discuss this with the endocrinologist and maybe get a 2nd opinion?
has anyone lost weight on synthroid
I have thyroid disease and I am taking synthroid for it. If I start to get hot I will break out into a sweat. It is like a hot flash. I don’t have night sweats so I know I am over the menopause thing. Does anyone out there do the same thing that has thyroid disease? This is very bothersome to me… a real drag!
For many years I have had extreme problems due to my hypothyroidism. I have dark course hair on my face, stomach, back, buttock, and legs(I am female so this is not normal.) I also get hot flashes, overactive sweating, extreme weight loss and weight gain. I have been on Synthroid medication int he past and this hasn’t helped wtih any of these things. Would a thyroidectomy solve these problems for me?
I am 20 years old and have mild hypothyroidism. I am not keen on medication, but it’s gotten to the point where it is affecting my health. I don’t want to be on medication for life (synthroid, levo ect). I was browsing at the health store and came accross a "raw thyroid" from bovine. I kind of want to try this, but can you get on and off it or have to stay on it once you are on?
I have Hypothyroidism, I am sopposed to be taking synthroid everyday, but the last year I haven’t been able to cause of no insurance and no doctor and just haven’t had the money. Now i am getting insurance again, can i stary taking it again, will it make me tired and sleepy and wore out again?
I have been diagnosed with a thyroid condition but as they increase my medicine my depression seems to be worsening. Is this possible? I am now on 150mcg of synthroid.
Okay, I have thyroid cancer and had a total thyroidectomy. In preperation for my scans, I had to stop taking all my thyroid hormone (synthroid), so, I’m severely hypothyroid now. The last month and a half, I’ve been on a diet and exercise at least 5 days a week. Even with my diet and workout, I have not lost a single pound and in fact have gained a tiny bit. Is this normal? Does your thyroid play that much into weight loss?
